Clothes, clothes everywhere...but not an outfit to wear

Why is it that when I stare into the depths of my closet, I never feel like I can find anything to wear? I remember thinking last winter that I couldn't wait for spring to hit because I was tired of my winter clothes, and now I can't wait for winter because I'm tired of my summer and fall clothes. I realize that there are greater problems in the world than figuring out what I should wear every morning, but everyone needs a hobby, right?

Monday, Monday: Can't I just stay in my jammies?

Well, I basically did. This dress is SO ridiculously comfortable. I highly recommend it. God knows I love it because I own it in 2 colors. It's the perfect work dress, beach cover up, party dress, etc. Seriously - is there a place where this dress wouldn't work? And the best part? It converts to a skirt. I'm sold!

Dress: J. Crew
Shoes: Chinese Laundry (I am so very, very, very tired of sandals)
Earrings: I don't remember, but they're sparkly...just the opposite of my Monday morning personality.

Tuesday: Scalloped Potato Sack

Dress: Ann Taylor
Shoes: Ann Taylor
Earrings: J. Crew

Wednesday: It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood

Ruffles: check. Pockets: check. Ability to wear with a twisty belt: check. Perfect dress for a Wednesday: check.

Belt: J. Crew
Shoes: Ann Taylor

Thursday: Rainy days may bring me down, but Friday is just around the corner!

I got tired of dresses, so I figured it was time to break out a pair of pants (which my kids actually did notice...I thought that was hilarious). I love these pants. There's just something about Banana Republic's Ryan fit that gets me every time. They're the perfect rise (not too much like a pair of "Mom Jeans," but I also don't need to worry about having plumber's crack in the back). Seriously, they're amazing. Love them!

Shirt: Ann Taylor
Pants: Banana Republic
Shoes: Ann Taylor
Earrings: Lia Sophia (I like to call these my "Jersey Earrings" because they're HUGE)

Friday: TGIJeansDay

No picture necessary. I've been anxiously awaiting wearing jeans and a hoodie all week. Ah...comfort.

A Week in the Life

It's time for back to school. Fall was in the air this week, but I guess that is ok since summer is over. As I started this week, I thought about how much value I place in how I dress. I'm guessing my students really don't notice my clothes all that much and wouldn't care if I was wearing a potato sack or a designer outfit, but it's amazing how much your confidence goes up when you feel cute.

Tuesday: The first day back

Just another Desperate (ex)Housewife

It's "Kickoff Day" at work, also known as the most dreaded day I can ever imagine every year. There's nothing like sitting in a metal folding chair for 2+ hours to inspire you to get started with another year. Don't get me wrong, I love my job and can't imagine doing anything else, but the morning meeting is absolute torture. I also have Connor's preschool Open House tonight. My little baby isn't so little anymore, and I have to admit that it makes me a little sad that he's growing up so quickly.

Today's outfit is an oldie but a goodie. I've had this dress for several years, but I just can't seem to part with it. It reminds me of a dress that Bree on "Desperate Housewives" would wear (or at least what she wore in the single episode I caught). There's something that is just so simple about a dress. There's no matching involved at all. Just pair it with some shoes and maybe a few simple accessories and you're good to go. Easy. Trust me when I say that there will be a lot of dresses next week.

Dress: Ann Taylor (similar here and here)
Shoes: Chinese Laundry Willy Sandals
Earrings: Ann Taylor Swarovski Crystal Studs

School officially starts Tuesday! This is pathetic, but I've had my outfits picked for the first few days for at least 3 weeks now. Seriously, I need a hobby! :)

Please, God, don't let me break the camera on picture day

Today's outfit is yet another ode to Jenna from J. Crew. I'm really into ruffles this season. A little embellishment goes a long way. I also really like that I bought this shirt for a whopping $7 after discounts, especially considering the tag said $79.

Today is also school picture day. I've had a complex about school pictures since 3rd grade when I "broke" the camera. Ok, the photographer just had to reload the film (yes, they used film when I went to school...and filmstrips...and slide shows), but it seemed to start a trend in my picture day life. Year after year, the camera ran out of film just as I sat down to have my picture taken. That did not bode well for a girl who already had zero self confidence. My goal for today is to not break the camera. Let's just hope they don't have to replace the memory card on my turn because I will end up with a huge complex if that happens.

Top: J. Crew Ruffle Button Down (similar here)
Shoes: Ann Taylor Perfect Leather Ruffle Pump
Earrings: J. Crew (similare and super cute here...did I mention it's almost my birthday?)

A New Year...but not so new clothes

I don't think it would come as a surprise to anyone who knows me that the last year has been incredibly rough for me. I've never been one to deal well with change, and my life has changed drastically in the last 12 months. A little bit (ok, a ton) of retail therapy really helped me out over that period, and I've decided that I really need a new hobby to take my mind off things. Preferably a free hobby, so if anyone has any ideas, I'm listening!

Today's outfit was a fun one. A friend of mine told me that I don't know the difference between "bar cute" and "professional cute," and to that I say, "PLLLBBBB!" I think I look cute in it, and for God's sake, I'm 29 (for a few more days), not 90!

Top: Martin + Osa (RIP...we hardly knew ye, but damn! you had some cute stuff) Silk Racerback Tank
Jeans: !iT Diva Jeans (aka, my favorite jeans in the world...I'm going to wear these until they dissolve)
Shoes: Banana Republic Flats
On the phone: Katie (Yes, we talk to each other at 7:00 in the morning. Don't judge me.)

Back to work...in my sister's clothes

Since I can't shop at actual stores, I choose to shop in my sister's closet. Today's outfit is courtesy of Katie's closet, and I'm not sure that I'm ever giving it back.

Top: J. Crew
Jeans: Paige Premium Denim (aka, jeans that I could never afford...but I'm kind of in love with them)
Shoes: Target (even Connor is pronouncing it "Tarzhay" these days...and even better because I bought them on sale 2 months ago)
